Notes & Details
The 8mm bullets are 7.92mm Mauser, the standard German ammunition used in WWII. They were fired from machine guns on German aircraft, such as the Heinkel 111, Dornier Do 17 and Junkers 88. In this case they most likely came from defensive fire from bombers as they were chased by RAF fighters over the coast. Any rounds that missed fell into the sea and were later washed onto the beach. They are real pieces of Luftwaffe history, showing where the air war once passed overhead.
